Igor graduated from very prestigious Art College "Muhinskoe" as a ceramic artist. After that he was offered employment as an artist from oldest European porcelain factory “Lomonosov Porcelain Factory”. There he learned allot of secrets of this fascinating and intricate material and now he is well known for quality of his work. And now Igor Mintch continues the best traditions of European porcelain sculpting and painting in ceramic.
From 1987 he is working together with another artist - Irina Ilina. Together they accomplish many government commissions all around Russia and Europe. As artists, the couple was financially and critically successful in their St. Petersburg home, but gave it all up to come to the United States and get away from the oppressive conditions under which they worked. Igor always wanted to share the beautiful world of his visions with other people.
In 1994 Igor was offered a status of "Extraordinary Artist Valuable for American Culture" from the Federal Government and settled in the US.
Much of his artwork is mixture of classical and contemporary themes, a combination that fascinates the artist.
